On April 9, 2026, the New Jersey Department of Human Services officially fully reopened the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) to all eligible families. After being closed to new applications since August 2025, this means thousands of New Jersey parents can now apply for free or reduced-cost childcare.

If you are a working parent, a student, or in job training in Edison, Roselle, or anywhere in Middlesex and Union counties, this directly affects you.

CCAP, CCCS, CCCC & PFP — We Accept All NJ Childcare Subsidies

Parents in Edison and Roselle know these programs by different names. Little Einstein’s Academy accepts all of them:

  • CCAP — Child Care Assistance Program (state-run, just reopened April 2026)
  • CCCS — Community Child Care Solutions (Union County families)
  • CCCC — Community Coordinated Child Care (Middlesex County families)
  • PFP — Programs for Parents (another pathway to subsidized childcare)

No matter which program you use, your child receives the exact same quality of care. Call (732) 985-4700 and we will guide you.

What Is CCAP?

The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) is New Jersey’s primary childcare subsidy. It helps income-eligible families pay for licensed childcare while they work, attend school, or participate in job training. For qualifying families, CCAP can cover all or most of the cost of daycare.

Little Einstein’s Academy in Edison and Roselle is a CCAP-approved provider. If you receive CCAP approval, you can enroll your child at LEA at little or no cost to you.

Who Is Eligible for CCAP?

To qualify for CCAP in 2026, you must meet all of the following:

  • Working full-time (30+ hours/week), attending school full-time (12+ credits), in job training (20+ hours/week), or a combination
  • Income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level for initial eligibility (approximately $62,400/year for a family of 4 in 2026)
  • Child is under 13 years old (or under 19 with special needs)
  • New Jersey resident

After one year of enrollment, families remain eligible with income up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (approximately $78,000/year for a family of 4).

How to Apply for CCAP

The application process has three steps:

  1. Visit ChildCareNJ.gov to review eligibility requirements
  2. Apply online at MyNJHelps.nj.gov — this is the State’s secure online application system

Why the Reopening Matters for Edison and Roselle Families

CCAP was closed to new applications since August 1, 2025 due to state budget constraints. During that time, families who needed childcare assistance had no path to apply. Many parents delayed returning to work or school because they could not afford daycare without the subsidy.

Now that CCAP is fully open again, there is expected to be a surge of applications. We strongly recommend applying as soon as possible, as historical patterns show that CCAP can close again when funding is depleted.
